There are a lot of conflicting opinions when it comes to eating at night before bed. Even in sleep, your body needs energy to function.
PROS:
Weight Loss:
Eating foods that contain Tryptophan and Melatonin can satiate hunger pangs and give your body the energy it needs to recover at night.
Sleep Better:
A full stomach makes a person feel sleepy but when the food has nutritional value can make all the difference between a good night's sleep and indigestion. Snacks like apples and peanut butter contain excellent nutrients.
Maintain Blood Sugar:
Power foods like fruits, nuts, oats can regulate your blood pressure levels. Low blood pressure levels make you feel less groggy the next morning
CONS:
Poor Sleep:
Depending on what you eat, some foods you consume can disrupt your sleep patterns.
Slower Metabolism:
Eating before bed can cause the body's metabolism to slow down.
Meal Size:
Instead of eating late and at night and leaving less time for digestion, try to train yourself to eat larger meals during the day.
In conclusion, the best time to eat is 3 hours before bed. This allows the stomach to have proper time to digest and prepare for sleep.
This post has led me to believe that I need to not eat before bed so that I can stop my body from being hurt.
